Working together to regenerate Coalite
Bolsover Land Ltd, a joint venture between Marcol (www.marcol.com) and St Francis Group (www.stfrancisgroup.com) acquired the site in November 2012 after previous attempts by other developers to regenerate the site had failed.
The site is covered by local planning authorities, North East Derbyshire District Council (www.ne-derbyshire.gov.uk) and Bolsover District Council (www.bolsover.gov.uk). The councils are also responsible for environmental health matters.
Derbyshire County Council (www.derbyshire.gov.uk) is the Project Sponsor and has provided £2m of grant funding to help kick-start the remediation of the site.
D2N2 LEP (www.d2n2lep.org) is the Local Enterprise Partnership for Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. D2N2 has provided £5.8m of grant funding.
The Environment Agency (EA) is the government body established to protect and improve the environment to create better places for people and wildlife, and support sustainable development. The EA is responsible for overseeing the site’s clean-up. (www.gov.uk/government/organisations/environment-agency/about)
